Respect is not a luxury. It is the baseline.

Respect is the minimum requirement for access to you. Not a reward. Not a negotiation. Not something you earn through softness or patience or proving your worth. It is the doorway. If someone cannot walk through it, they do not get in.

A woman who knows her value does not tolerate half effort or half interest. She does not entertain people who treat her like an option. She does not shrink herself to fit someone’s comfort zone. She does not stay where her presence is taken for granted.

Your kindness is intentional. Your loyalty is earned. Your attention is selective. You do not offer these things to people who cannot meet the minimum requirement of respect.

Respect is consistency.

Respect is clarity.

Respect is effort.

Respect is honesty.

Respect is showing up.

Respect is treating you like a human being, not a convenience.

Anyone who tries to bypass respect to reach your softness will learn quickly. You do not open for people who knock with disrespect. You do not give your heart to people who cannot hold your name gently. You do not give your time to people who cannot give you truth.

Respect is the minimum. Everything else is a privilege.

Maybe things aren’t as complicated as they seem. Perhaps you had that feeling too before. I noticed that if I stop thinking of things as a really complicated puzzle I manage to make more progress. Seriously, for so long I asked myself what people do that I’m not doing.  Why do some things just come to people so easily when it is so "complicated" to get the thing?
